The Khantoke Dinner at the Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center is based around the traditional Thai dinner and dancing show. For the Khantoke dinner guests sit on bamboo mats on the floor and are served a range of northern Thai food to share with the table. The food includes a rich chicken curry and a Burmese style pork curry, fried chicken, sticky rice, vegetables with a spicy chilli dip and the northern delicacy of deep fried pork skin. While you sit and eat a variety of Traditional Thai dances are shown on stage including sword dancing and a popular drum performance.

The dinner and show we saw on New Years Eve was terrific. Yes, it is a big venue catering for group tours (most of whom only ate then left) but very well organised with waitresses, drink waiters and cameramen all busily helping out.

We did some research on where to find the better place to watch the traditional Northern Thai dances and decided for this one. We pre-ordered our dinner as halal dinner and although there is a small extra charge for that, it was worth it.

Last evening we visited Khum Khantoke doe an enjoyable Thai Lanna dining experienced, the food was good, service was slow, but only to be expected in such a large venue, the entertainment was really good, they have Halal and vegetarian options, it is easily assesible from town with a local taxi, there were many groups of tourists whom appeared to be having a good time. There are stalls to buy Lanna clothing items and souvenirs, also many photo opportunities, great Lanna architecture is surrounding the venue, well worth a visit

The food was OK, the entertainment was good (traditional cultural dancing and music), the experience was fun. As it is with most of these "group" entertainment venues, it was touristy, and the service was slow because of the large group, but we had fun and it was worth coming.

Excellent, if not aggressive, service and the food is OK I guess. Those are the only good takeaways from our night here. Everything is expensive as hell, the dancing is pretty blah at best (dancers were even laughing at their dancing), we tried to sit with a good view but were told we couldn't with no explanation. All in all a big waste of money. The drinks were also literally the worst drinks I have ever had - tasted like Pepto bismol and cough syrup

We were part of the Sinorama Holidays tour Fasinating Thailand and China The Land of Smiles Tour which included taking our group to this Khantoke Dinner of the North and Lanna Classical Performance. We all thoroughly enjoyed every part of this cultural experience. You are served at your table with big platters of food. (Note: you will have to take off your shoes before entering the eating area so be prepared to bring socks with you if you don't want to walk bare feet). The food was very different and good.The food comes on a big beautiful platter for all to share. The show was beautiful but it was kind of far see from where we were sitting at the far back left of room. Everyone sits at low tables. Some sitting on pillows. We had a low bench with our feet hanging under the table.

We are now on our way back. The food is nothing special. Actually, you will get better food in almost any Thai restaurant in town. Most of them are much much better. The show, except for the dressing and one item, is at the level you would get at any sixth grade graduation. In short, not worth the time and the money. Do yourselves a favor and go do something else.

Our hotel made our reservations and we were picked up promptly in a comfortable van. We were traveling from the US with another couple and we were seated right next to the dance floor. You are served family style while relaxing on floor mats with back cushions . The food is average, but the dancing and costumes are spectacular!! It was a fun evening and we all enjoyed a first- rate show and the chance to experience Thai culture in a beautiful setting.

Lanna style restaurant. Foods are yummy, the traditional shows were beautiful, staffs were very polite. Toilets were clean and tidy too. I think it's one of the must place to visit in Chiang mai.
